Launched in response to the forest fire situations across the state, the campaign aims to mitigate the risk of forest fires by involving local communities in the collection of pine needles, locally known as Pirul.
Chief Minister Dhami inaugurated the Pirul Lao-Paise Pao Mission in the Rudraprayag district on May 8, underscoring the importance of proactive measures to prevent forest fires. Encouraging public participation, he personally engaged in the cleaning of Pirul and directed villagers to join the campaign.
Under the initiative, villagers and youth are mobilized to collect Pirul from forest areas, which is then weighed and stored at designated Pirul Collection Centers. Participants are incentivized with monetary rewards, receiving Rs 50 per kilogram of Pirul collected, transferred directly to their bank accounts.
