ROB Edwards says Morgan Whittaker’s efforts deserve as much championing as his goal, as the Middlesbrough forward scored a crucial goal for his side against Ipswich Town.
-
Whittaker fired Boro into a 2-0 lead on Friday evening and it proved decisive as they went on to win 2-1.
It was Whittaker’s first goal for the club after a difficult 10-month period, and ensured Edwards’ side recorded a statement victory over their promotion rivals.
A huge personal moment for the 24-year-old, it follows a really difficult period for him which came to a head at Preston North End last month, with the forward jeered off the pitch.
After huge backing in the aftermath from Edwards and his teammates, the Boro boss is now hoping this moment proves a big one for him.
"I'm really pleased for him," Edwards said after.
