LORRAINE Kelly has revealed she still feels guilty that the Lockerbie disaster was her big break on national TV news.
The presenter was working as a local TV reporter in Scotland when she was one of the first on the scene after the terrorist attack, in which 270 people died when a Pan Am Boeing 747 was downed in December 1988.
Telling Desert Island Discs of her experience, Lorraine had got “right up to the nose cone, it was horrific”, adding: “I have blanked out a lot because I think you had to. There were bodies everywhere... in people’s gardens.”
But when STV bosses saw her coverage, they decided to send her to London. Lorraine said it was “this weird added thing, very, very strange and difficult to live with.
