Marking one year as your MP

This week marked the first anniversary of the Labour government coming to power.

I am pleased that benefits of the new government are now being felt with: an increase in the National Minimum Wage; a new Worker's Rights Bill offering greater protections for working people; four interest rate cuts providing cheaper mortgages; a record devolution settlement ending austerity with £14 billion more for the public services.

Here on the Clyde, there is a £250 million upgrade to the naval base with millions more invested into the innovation zone around Glasgow Airport.

Since taking my seat, I have met hundreds of constituents, and dozens of local organisations and businesses and I have had the chance to raise issues of concern either in parliament or directly with Ministers.
