Ambitious rewilding plan to transform Exmoor land

AN AMBITIOUS three-and-a-half-year plan to transform 320 hectares of land near Simonsbath has been announced by Exmoor National Park Authority (ENPA), aiming to boost biodiversity, community involvement and cultural heritage at its Driver site.

The programme, approved by the ENPA committee in May, includes at least five dedicated nature recovery projects, enhanced physical access and a raft of educational and engagement initiatives.
Activities will include the Young Rangers scheme, school visits and community-focused events such as Welcome to Exmoor days.
Rob Wilson-North, ENPA’s head of access, engagement and estates, said the development phase will balance environmental restoration with learning and public access.
