Justices M M Sundresh and SV N Bhatti, who formed the bench, declined to prolong the stay that the Bombay High Court had imposed on Navlakha's bail. Navlakha was also instructed to contribute Rs 20 lakh towards security expenses during his house arrest.
The bench stated that there was no necessity to extend the interim stay order, considering that Navlakha had been in detention for over four years and charges were yet to be framed. They noted that the trial would take a significant amount of time to complete and hence, they were not inclined to extend the stay.
