Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday disbursed the 19th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme, transferring more than Rs 22,000 crore to the bank accounts of 9.8 crore farmers across India.
Addressing a gathering in Bihar's Bhagalpur district, the prime minister reiterated the government's focus on empowering farmers and strengthening the rural economy.
"This scheme is a lifeline for millions of farmers across the country, ensuring financial stability and strengthening the backbone of our agricultural sector," Modi said.
Launched in February 2019, the PM-KISAN scheme provides financial assistance to land-holding farmers, granting eligible beneficiaries Rs 6,000 annually in three installments of Rs 2,000 each.
