India Shares Flood Alert With Pak on 'Humanitarian Grounds' Despite IWT Freeze

India has notified Pakistan of a possible flood in the Tawi River, marking the first official communication between the two neighbours since their military clash in May, according to reports in the Pakistani media.
NEW DELHI:
Sources in New Delhi described the communication as a gesture made "on humanitarian grounds." They noted that the alert was shared despite India having suspended the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT) following the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed 26 lives.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his Independence Day address, reiterated that "blood and water won't flow together," making clear the government's position on continuing with the agreement while cross-border terrorism persists. Modi also criticised the treaty as "unjust and unreasonable suggesting India may permanently reconsider its obligations if the situation does not change.
