CBI intensifies probe, questions ex-principal for 2nd day in a row

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Saturday further interrogated former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital Sandip Ghosh and also questioned two friends of the victim at the CGO complex in Salt Lake.

Ghosh who was questioned by CBI on Friday till late at night deposed before the Central investigating agency on Saturday morning and told reporters: “I have been summoned by the CBI in connection with the probe in the case and I am extending full cooperation to the central investigating agency. Please, don’t report that I have been arrested.”

According to sources, the victim’s parents have told the CBI that they are not ruling out the involvement of others in the crime. They have also informed the sleuths about some of the close friends of the victim whom the latter believe can be important leads in the probe.

“The questioning of different persons who were familiar with the victim will not only help us determine whether more persons were involved in the crime, but will also ascertain the motive which is still unclear,” a CBI official said on conditions of anonymity.
