PEOPLE were still swimming in the Salford Quays yesterday - hours after the tragic death of a teenager in the water as Greater Manchester battles a heatwave.

Swimmers still risking lives after teenager drowns in Quays

Yesterday afternoon young men were pictured jumping into the water from a bridge just yards from where a 16-year-old boy drowned.

On a bench on the quayside flowers and balloons had been left in memory of the teenager who drowned while swimming with friends on Saturday evening.

A message on one balloon at the scene read 'RIP Kalen! A major search operation was launched on Saturday after reports that a person had got into difficulty in the water.
