Moss Side was rocked by a shooting in the early hours of Monday on Claremont Road in which a man, aged 20, died.
Hours later, a knife brawl broke out on Roseberry Street which saw several people injured.
As reported by the M.E.N. yesterday, Greater Manchester Police was investigating if the two incidents were connected.
However, Detective Superintendent David Meeney, of GMP’s City of Manchester District, has confirmed that police now believe the violent attacks were not linked.
“We continue to investigate two incidents from the early hours of August 15 whereby a number of males have suffered injuries and sadly a young man has lost his life,” Det Supt David Meeney said.
