Dog attack leaves child seriously hurt

Police and paramedics swarmed Swanley Avenue in Monsall yesterday afternoon following the incident before the dog was understood to have been seized by officers.

The M.E.N. understands the youngster, aged 11, was taken to hospital from the scene with serious injuries. They are not believed to be life-threatening.

An air ambulance was also scrambled to the estate, landing nearby on a grassed area beside the former Queens Hotel and Pub as people watched on in horror.
