Greta Thunberg got what she wanted and Gaza didn't

I know I'm supposed to applaud Greta Thunberg. Every time her name pops up, people nod along like it's mandatory. As if questioning her is some sort of moral failing. But this week, I couldn't bite my tongue.

Greta joined a so-called "peace flotilla" heading for Gaza. She boarded the ship with cameras in tow, slogans prepared, and that all-too-familiar look of theatrical defiance. Within hours, she was detained by Israeli forces and promptly removed from the country. That made the headlines, of course. Her mission was blocked, and the image of her "arrest" became the story. Mission accomplished.

But here's the bit no one seems to want to say out loud: this wasn't really about Gaza.
