NEW DELHI:
The last time Delhi recorded a warmer January day was 28.7°C on January 21, 2019.
Sunday too was warm, with the city recording a maximum temperature of 24°C. For January, such a high temperatures are rare, as the long-period average shows the maximum temperature varies between 19.4°C and 22.4°C through the month.
The relief from the cold is likely to be short-lived, however, with the India Meteorological Department IMD) forecasting a dip in the maximum temperature from Tuesday onwards.
