NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Tuesday observed that the State has to be fair as it rapped the Uttar Pradesh and Delhi governments over delay in constituting a medical board to examine the condition of the mother of Vikas Yadav, who is serving a jail term in the Nitish Katara case.
Yadav, who is serving a 25-year jail term in the 2002 murder case, has sought interim bail for attending to his ailing mother.
A bench of Justices Abhay S Oka and Ujjal Bhuyan expressed surprise that despite its April 2 order, it took 10 days to constitute a medical board to examine the condition of his mother who was admitted to the Yashoda Hospital in Ghaziabad.
