AQI improves, but likely to worsen with drop in temp

The Capital's air quality improved on Saturday, supported by strong northwesterly (NW) winds, with the air quality index (AQI) remaining in the "moderate" category for the second consecutive day.
NEW DELHI:
The 24-hour average AQI was recorded at 174 at 4pm on Saturday, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). This marked a steady improvement from AQI of 199 ("moderate") recorded a day earlier and 257 recorded prior to that, which fell in the "poor" category. The last "moderate" air quality day prior to this week was on December 30, 2024, when the AQI was 173, after which it worsened to the "poor" category.
