£1.2m paid out over medical negligence in gynaecology care

A NUMBER of women treated by Northern Lincolnshire & Goole Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust have received more than £1.2m in compensation for gynaecology-related medical negligence over the past five years, new figures show.

Statistics obtained by law firm Medical Negligence Assist through Freedom of Information requests have revealed the huge scale of NHS payouts made for claims of gynaecological negligence across England since 2020.

Among the NHS trusts that did settle claims was Northern Lincolnshire & Goole Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which has received 36 gynaecology-related negligence claims over five years.

At the time the data was released, 20 of those cases had been settled, at a combined cost of £1,238,232 - meaning the average successful claimant received approximately £61,900 in compensation from the trust.
