Putin's forces will outgun Ukraine by 10 to one in weeks, warns US commander

UKRAINE will be outgunned by Vladmir Putin's army by 10 to one artillery shells within weeks and risk losing the war if Republicans continue to block military aid, a senior US commander has warned.

Army General Christopher Cavoli stressed "the severity of this moment cannot be overstated". Russian troops were gaining more ground in eastern Ukraine as Kyiv's forces were having to ration munitions.

"They are now being outshot by the Russian side five to one," General Cavoli, head of the US European Command, told the armed services committee in Washington.

"So the Russians fire five times as many artillery shells at the Ukrainians than the Ukrainians are able to fire back. That will immediately go to 10 to one in a matter of weeks," he said.
