Lucky loser stuns Djokovic in a 'miracle' landmark triumph

GROWING up, world No123 Luca Nardi had posters scattered over his bedroom walls of Novak Djokovic.
Overnight, in a first-ever meeting against the player he idolised as a child, he produced a result he later likened to a miracle in beating the world No1 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 at Indian Wells.
Nardi was not even meant to be in the main draw, having lost in qualifying to David Goffin, but sneaked in as a lucky loser after a late player withdrawal.
The 20-year-old made his reprieve count in the third round as he became the lowest-ranked player to ever beat Djokovic at either Grand Slam or ATP Masters 1000 level.
