Hard act to follow: He was famously a hard man on the pitch - and Vinnie Jones used his tough-guy image to carve out a serious acting career. The former Wimbledon midfielder played mob enforcer Big Chris in Guy Ritchie's Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1998). It paved the way for roles in a series of action films.

Victory lap: Brazilian icon Pelé joined a league of footie royalty in 1981 war flick Escape To Victory.
