TONY ASGHAR is delighted Tam Courts has led Dundee United into Europe and silenced the critics who questioned his credentials as a manager.
United sporting director Asghar decided to promote from within when he handed Courts, who had been head of analysis within the club's academy, the hotseat last summer.
Asghar copped heavy criticism for the appointment and admitted it was a horrible period.
But he was always confident in Courts and has been delighted to see him lead United to fourth and into the Europa Conference League.
Asghar admitted: "Tam has done a fantastic job. There was scepticism when we made the appointment. People said it was a gamble.
"I will say it again, it was a calculated risk. For me, it was never a gamble. I knew what I was getting.
