MSPs demand Scottish Government speeds up processing applications

MSPs have blasted delays over processing devolved benefits after nine children died while waiting to hear if they qualified for payments.

Opposition politicians reacted with fury to the Child Disability Payment news and demanded action by the Scottish Government to speed up operations.

Labour MSP Paul O'Kane said: "These heartbreaking cases hammer home the importance of getting social security right. It is simply harrowing that children have died while waiting for support they were entitled to.
