We will never accept cruelty of her life being taken... our girl was meant to be safe, cared for

A NURSERY worker has been convicted of killing a baby girl who she strapped face down to a beanbag.

Nine-month-old Genevieve Meehan was so tightly swaddled she died by asphyxiation, a court heard.

Deputy manager Kate Roughley, 37, put her to sleep in a "very unsafe sleeping environment". She was found guilty of manslaughter yesterday.

Genevieve's parents, Katie and John Meehan, said: "We will never accept the cruelty of her life being taken away. That we will not get to hear her speak her first words or watch her grow up.

"Genevieve could have done anything she wanted to.

She had her whole life to live and was loved so dearly by her family.
