GARETH SOUTHGATE’S eyes must have lit up when Reece James finally delivered on a promise to Raheem Sterling.
After spending last summer smashing in goals for England in the Euros at Wembley, Sterling was back scoring for the home team in the capital as he broke his Chelsea duck with a double to down Leicester.
The £50 million summer arrival from Manchester City admitted his 20-yard 47th-minute opener had an element of luck about it, as it took a slight deflection off Leicester defender Daniel Amartey.
But there was nothing fortunate about the pinpoint cross James delivered for Sterling to tap in his second goal in front of the Shed End, on 63 minutes.
