RORY MCILROY hopes the "stars are aligning" as he seeks to repeat history at the US PGA Championship this week after winning his two events before Valhalla just like in his golden summer of 2014.
A decade ago the Northern Irishman claimed The Open and WGC-Bridgestone Invitational titles before capturing his fourth Major in Kentucky.
Now the 35-year-old has won back-toback in New Orleans and North Carolina ahead of the second Major of the year.
After landing the Wells Fargo Championship title for the fourth time at the weekend, a beaming McIlroy said: "I just need to try to replicate whatever I did in 2014.
"I've really got some confidence. My golf swing feels a lot more comfortable than it has been.
"So, going to a venue where I've won it feels like the stars are aligning a little bit.
"I just went through a bit of a quiet spell there for a couple of months at the start of this year but I feel like I'm back where I need to be.
