PRINCE Harry told an American TV show yesterday "I love my family" and vowed to visit the UK several times this year following his father's cancer diagnosis.

I've got other trips planned to the UK and so I'll stop in and see my family as much as I can

Speaking publicly for the first time about King Charles's illness, the Duke of Sussex, 39, suggested it could lead to a reconciliation with the family.

He dashed back to London last week within 24 hours of his father's diagnosis being made public. But father and son spent just 45 minutes together at Clarence House before Charles, 75, headed to Sandringham with Camilla.

Yesterday Harry told Good Morning America that Charles had broken the news in a phone call. He added: "I jumped on a plane and went to go see him [the King] as soon as I could. I love my family.

"The fact that I was able to get on a plane and go and see him and spend any time with him, I'm grateful for that." Harry, who made the visit without his wife Meghan or their children, added that he hopes to see his father again soon, saying: "I've got other trips planned that will take me through the UK or back to the UK, and so I'll stop in and see my family as much as I can." Asked by GMA host Will Reeve about the King's prognosis, Harry said: "That stays brother between me and him." He did not mention William or sister-in-law Kate.
