With snowploughs out yesterday in Cumbria, there were warnings that the South-east could wake up to snow this morning.
The Environment Agency has 251 flood warnings and alerts in place after days of torrential rain left many rivers bursting their banks.
They are focused on the Midlands and the South-west, with Wales also having one flood warning and 14 flood alerts.
On top of that the Met Office has slapped four days of multiple yellow snow and ice warnings in place until Wednesday across the country with the mercury expected to plummet as low as -10C (14F) in the Highlands.
But the rainfall is expected to stop – a welcome relief to the thousands facing flooding.
