FROM America to Millfield School in Somerset, and Loughborough University to Rugby, Bristol & West AC athletes were enjoying the fine weather and producing plenty of personal bests over the weekend.

- Kevin FAHEY

Stateside, the headline news came from B&W athlete Tia Jackson, who was competing for Morgan State University in the Mid-Easten Athletic Conference (MEAC) Outdoor Track & Field championships at Norfolk State's Dick Price Stadium.

Jackson won gold in the long jump, leaping an impressive 6.02m to claim the title and Morgan State's second gold medal of the meet. She had previously won this title in 2022 and 2023, so is a highly popular member of the 'Lady Bears.

>> Closer to home, Eleanor McIntosh was selected to represent the Great Britain U20s team at the Loughborough International and she finished fourth in the 400m in a time of 55.09secs, outside the PB of 54.02 she set last month, which puts her fourth in the UK U20 Rankings this season.

Also at Loughborough, sprinter Isaac Marsh clocked 22.88secs for the 200m.

>> In Somerset, teenager Charlie Eisenberg achieved a major breakthrough in the British Milers Club PB Classic at Millfield School.

In only his third attempt at the 800m, the club newcomer smashed his PB yet again as he clocked 1min 58.85secs to finish runner-up in the B race to lift him to third in the South West U17 Rankings, just behind club-mate Ewan Sparey (1:58.51 indoors).
