Tech-free zones are required to save humanity

Several recent interactions and observations have led me to believe that humanity needs technology-free zones where people can interact and be themselves. Ironically, better human contact leads to better technology.

The purpose of technology is to serve humans, whereas the reverse appears to be happening now!

While having lunch with the family, I noticed that at almost all tables, diners were more engaged with their screens than with each other, and in some cases, even with the food. On the adjacent table, a mother with EarPods was watching a video, and the son was playing video games. Further afield, a family of five, with the grandmother clicking on the toddler's tablet, while big brother was being fed without moving his stare from another tablet. Dad and mum were on their devices too, in between the inconvenience of eating. Not just at that restaurant, but at many other restaurants, there are families who are there in body, but not in mind or spirit.

At the pool, I saw a couple enter the area, and the male got into the pool with his phone in hand. His attractive female partner rifled through their belongings, went back to their room, and returned with a Power Bank so he could play video games in the pool! If I hadn't seen it, I wouldn't believe it. What are parents teaching their sons and daughters? No wonder a solo generation is being declared.
