Armed gang robs Rs 50L from SBI branch in Surat

In a daring daylight robbery, a gang of five to six armed men robbed a busy State Bank of India (SBI) branch in Varachha area on Lambe Hanuman Road in Surat.

The accused struck during a cash deposit operation on Monday afternoon and held bank employees hostage at gunpoint before escaping with over Rs 50 lakh. The robbery took place at around 1:11 pm, coinciding with the arrival of a CMS cash van to deposit money at the branch. Police suspect the gang had conducted prior reconnaissance of the bank and timed their entry meticulously.
