SIMONE CALLAHAN We cherish every moment

Every morning, Simone Callahan writes in her journal three things for which she is grateful. Invariably, her three children feature somewhere on that list.

Brooke, 26, Jackson, 24, and Summer, 22, who she shared with her late ex-husband Shane Warne, are a source of never-ending pride and joy.

“I love them to bits,” she shares with WHO. “I’m so proud and I’m so blessed every day. I’m so lucky. They are great kids. We have such a deep strong relationship and we are this little team and we’ve been through this really awful time, but they are so strong and so brave.”

Since Warne’s shock and sudden passing just over two years ago at the age of 52, Callahan has watched her children be enveloped by a “big hug from the world” and emerge from their deep grief by continuing to “make their dad proud and keep him in their hearts and remembered how he should be remembered”.

“They’ve learnt that they are not alone,” she explains. “So many people have lost parents and have difficult situations in their lives but this has really opened their eyes to being grateful and we cherish every moment that we do have here, because you are not promised tomorrow, and that’s been realised for us.”
