Karen and I set off on the W800 on a wet and cold June morning, heading via Bonar Bridge and the Struie, with a coffee and a warm-up at Foulis. Then round by Beauly and Drumnadrochit to lunch at the Thistle Stop between Fort Augustus and Invergarry, then another short stop for tea and cake at Ballachulish to warm up before a misty Glencoe and a bleak Rannoch Moor to our overnight stop at Tyndrum, after 180 miles. We stayed in the inn there, which was quick and efficient but the service was a bit steely, no doubt due to the language barrier, the staff being Eastern Europeans, possibly Croats.
