K'taka, Kerala Continue To Use Hydroxychloroquine

Despite World Health Organization temporarily halting trial on hydroxychloroquine as a potential drug for Covid-19 treatment due to safety concerns, Karnataka and Kerala say they see no reason to discontinue its usage.

Meanwhile, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has also said that “No major side effects of hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) have been found in studies in India and its use should be continued in preventive treatment for Covid-19 under strict supervision.” Interestingly, of the 44 covid related deaths in Karnataka, the State’s health bulletin reports 10 cardiac arrest-related deaths in covid positive patients.
