The New Indian Express Chennai|April 13, 2021
Tightening the screws to check the spread of Covid, the State government on Monday said at least 90,000 coronavirus tests will be done per day, contact tracing will be expedited, more fever camps will be held, and areas with more than three cases will be micro-containment zones. It also requested the public not to go outdoors unless necessary, appealed to people above the age of 45 to get vaccinated at the earliest, and asked frontline workers to get the jab within two weeks.
Improved Testing, Contact Tracing & Containment Measures Ahead In TN

Clusters of the infection have formed due to non-compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) at family gatherings, meetings, schools, banks, factories and other establishments, said an official release issued here after Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami chaired a high-level meeting at the Secretariat on Monday.

A committee headed by Commissioner of Revenue Administration K Phanindra Reddy has been formed to monitor the situation and take appropriate steps. Covid Monitoring Officers have been appointed for all districts and Field Support Teams for all Chennai Corporation zones.

The Chief Minister said that though the positivity rate is below 5 per cent, at least 90,000 RTPCR tests should be done per day. In containment zones, increased and aggressive testing should be conducted and test results declared within 24 hours, he added, and further said at least 25 contacts of patients should be traced and tested.
