Schumacher has high hopes for new signing Lewis

PLYMOUTH Argyle see ‘real potential’ in their 22-year-old midfield recruit Alfie Lewis.
Schumacher has high hopes for new signing Lewis

Lewis became the Pilgrims’ first piece of business in the January transfer window when he signed an 18-month contract as a free agent last week.

He had previously played for St Patrick’s Athletic during their 2021 League of Ireland campaign and rounded off his time with the Dublin-based club by helping them to win the FAI Cup final at the end of November.

Lewis had a couple of days training with his new Argyle teammates before making his debut as a substitute for the closing seconds of the 1-0 extra-time win away to Birmingham City in the FA Cup third round.

Argyle had wanted to sign Lewis last June, when his loan to St Patrick’s from West Ham United ended, but instead he chose to see out the rest of the season in Ireland with St Pat’s.
