Plenty for Albion to work on in 2022
The Herald|December 24, 2021
CHRISTMAS is a time to relax and enjoy festive fellowship, fun and merriment with family and friends. In the rugby world, it is also a time to reflect on the season so far, whilst looking forward to building for success in the New Year.

Plenty for Albion to work on in 2022

It is invariably difficult to mould a fledgling squad into a hard-nosed, tough-to-beat, experienced team. With 16 new players arriving at the club to make up our ranks following the long Covid layoff, it very quickly became clear that Albion were in a rebuilding phase.

With pre-season preparations going well, there was optimism in the camp, that we might be in the mix for promotion. It was not to be.

A series of tough encounters in our opening five games of the season gave us a serious wake-up call. In truth, Albion have been competitive and came close in many games, but regularly just unable to go the extra nine yards to find a way to win.

It has been a similar and recurring story so far this term. Albion are there or thereabouts, but lack that deep-rooted confidence and belief that only comes with experience.
