NEW DELHI: What was meant to be a show of support and solidarity with the nation in its fight against COVID-19, quickly turned into a celebration with many bursting firecrackers in Delhi and many other parts of the country. And while the lockdown had resulted in an astonishing decrease in pollution in the last one week in the Capital, the AQI (Air Quality Index) on Sunday night crossed 230 in some areas of South Delhi, a few hours after 9 pm.
The levels had been hovering around 40-60 in the last one week, according to multiple live AQI trackers and the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR).
