It’s a nightmare picture of what is happening in Italy – and what could happen here as the coronavirus overwhelms normal life.

Milan is in the worst affected region of the worst-affected country in Europe, the new continental epicenter of the global pandemic.
“It’s a total lockdown,” said the 32-year-old from his home in the heart of the city.
“The streets are deserted. The only things open are supermarkets.
“You can get a little bit of food and then it’s straight back home. It’s crazy.
“It’s a big city and you think it’s a movie. People have said it’s like a movie scene and it is. I’ve never seen anything like it before. I’m not sure people understand how bad it is here.
