Rangnick is waiting to secure a work permit before starting his role as interim boss on a six-month deal until the end of the season.
The German is known as the 'Godfather of the Gegenpress' after introducing the high-intensity tactic at a number of clubs he has managed and coached.
A host of elite managers have gone on to emulate Rangnick's philosophies, including Jurgen Klopp and Thomas Tuchel.
