Swathes of Britain are under a “danger to life” warning today after Storm Evert was set to batter the nation with 75mph gales.
The amber alert was slapped on the South West at 9pm last night as forecasters warned huge waves will hammer the coast.
They also predicted travel havoc, power cuts, damage to buildings and trees, road and bridge closures and potentially deadly injuries from swirling debris.
