A HEAD teacher with fond memories of watching Scotland in a World Cup match at school is allowing her own pupils to follow the national side from the classroom.
Wendy Cameron, head of Broomhill Primary, Glasgow, has embraced the Euros as a cultural event and is doing everything possible to give the pupils something to cheer about.
The whole school is now getting involved in Eurosthemed classes and can watch the game on Monday.
The Daily Record has reported calls from pupils to be allowed to watch the 2pm match against the Czech Republic – the men’s side’s first game at a major tournament in 23 years.
Scotland star John McGinn, teachers leaders and Labour’s education spokesman Michael Marra have all backed the call. And Wendy has shown the way to other school leaders – saying children can watch the game and learn about sport, exercise and Scottish history in the process.
