Manchester United have vowed to help find yobs who attacked police on Sunday and ban them for life.
Six officers were injured in clashes as more than 100 fans stormed the stadium in a demo against the club’s owners, the US-based Glazer family.
The eye socket of one officer was fractured and another sustained facial injuries after being pelted with missiles.
A managed 28 has been arrested following the protest that led to United’s Premier League clash with arch-rivals Liverpool being scrapped.
Supporters burst into Old Trafford and swarmed over the pitch two hours before the game was due to start.
Staff locked themselves in rooms for safety and outside the ground, missiles were hurled at police and their horses.
Police are now studying CCTV footage to find the violent yobs.
