Russell Curtis is the founder, lead vocalist and songwriter, Tok Khon is our music director and keyboard player, Derrick Siow is on the drums, Gideon Yogan is on bass and backing vocals, Jude Macson Bensing on the guitar and backing vocals, Khairul Anwar plays the trumpet, and Yow Weng Wai is alto and tenor saxophone player.
How did this band come together? For readers unfamiliar to your sound, tell us what RCRG is about.
We were originally a backing band of session musicians for the Russell Curtis Project tour in 2014 and subsequent shows throughout 2015 and 2016. We were officially renamed Russell Curtis & The Rowdy Gentlemen in April 2017. RCRG is an in-your-face, seven-piece, high energy outfit that delivers an explosive performance with elements of funk, soul, R&B and hip-hop.
