As the streets of Fashion Week heats up, Amy Yasmine discovers how designers are fi nding their way into a new age of earth-friendly luxury.
Imagine packing for a European destination mid-February, only to realise that the winter chill has unexpectedly morphed into a summer heat wave. A dramatic wardrobe malfunction, to say the least, but that’s exactly what happened to show-goers at a recent Fashion Week. Winter knits, quilted parkas and thigh-high boots were swapped for slinky slip dresses, breezy tees and flowing caftans. In Paris, style influencers Caro Daur and Camilla Coelho were spotted flaunting ample amounts of glistening skin by way of ethereal wispy tulles at a temperature of 23°C outside Dior’s Autumn/Winter ’19 show. Meanwhile in Milan, sirens Gilda Ambrosio and Gilda Tordini showed off their endless legs in seductive cocktail mini dresses, no less. A stark contrast to Jonathan Anderson’s Loewe show just days later, where psychedelic turtlenecks and midi skirts were layered under heirloom knits and floor-length coats—as heavy rain descended upon the French capital mid-Paris Fashion Week.
