TIPTREE JAMS AND TEA ROOMS

For many, Christmas wouldn’t be the same without a traditional pudding and just the very aroma is enough to evoke memories of happy times. Now Wilkin & Sons have managed to capture that magical Christmas spirit in a glass with their Christmas Pudding Rum Liqueur. Sold at a rather reasonable £19.99 per bottle, it rocks with festive flavour and even has Merry Christmas on the label. Voila! a ready-made present for the person who has everything.

This limited edition, gloriously golden liquid is created by distilling hand-made Tiptree Christmas Puddings with their English Spiced Rum Liqueur. They say it’s Christmas in a glass and if Essex had an essence, then this is surely it? Made in Tiptree they take a week or more to ferment sugar cane molasses. It’s then distilled with Tiptree Honey in small-batch copper alembic stills. With an ABV of 25% it packs a seasonal punch yet is smooth and delicious right down to the last drop.

Director at Wilkin & Sons, Scott Goodfellow explains: ‘We’ve been hand-making Christmas puds at Tiptree for decades and have more recently developed this lovely Spiced Rum Liqueur. In the summer of 2018 we wondered… what might happen if we were to crumble our puds into the rum and distil the mix? Well, we weren’t disappointed. We completely sold out last Christmas! This year we have made a slightly larger batch. However, it’s not only here in Essex where it's popular. We have just launched our Tiptree Liqueurs into China, so we’ll even send a few bottles for Christmas in Shanghai. From Tiptree with love!’

Sip over ice, add your favourite mixer or drizzle over dreamy desserts.
