Enjoy this perfect walk for late summer as you explore the banks of the River Stour and the countryside around Bradfield and Wrabness

THE WALK

1 At the rear of the car park is a metal barrier which you go around and follow the gravel track. Go all the way to the end of the track at a clearing by a metal gate where there are a few options. Take the path on the right, a footpath which is part of the Essex Way. Cross a planked bridge and then up some stone steps to the sea wall where you turn left along the raised path. Pass a tiny beach and continue along the river path which is shaded by trees. At the shelter, you are forced left, then turn immediately right along a hard Tarmac surface.

2 Bear right at the next footpath junction, taking you along the shore of the River Stour. Continue straight ahead for some distance. The sandy path joins the beach. Proceed to where the water sports take place and at the end of this beach, go left onto a narrow lane. This takes you under the railway line, then uphill to the main road.
