Carl is a keen grower of brassicas andthe quality of the produce he growsmade him a worthy winner, especiallyas these are challenging crops. In particular, Carl’s rather stunning cauliflowers really caught the judges’ attention.
Do you have an allotment or garden plot?
I am retired so I have lots of time to spend in the garden growing fruit and veg and trying different things and ways to grow plants. I tend my plot on my own mostly; my wife does however pick most of the soft fruit.
I have several real interests in growing, from hydroponic strawberries to Auto Pots in the greenhouse for tomatoes and cucumbers. These I do in more of a hydroponic way than the usual Auto Pot methods.
I’m a keen grower of brassicas – we tend to have some form of these throughout the year – although I do grow a large selection of fruit and veg to be near self-sufficient, with luck.
