The Queen was joined by her grandson the Duke of Cambridge last week, as she carried out her first engagement outside of a royal residence since the start of lockdown in March.
Her Majesty, 94, and William, 38, visited the Defence Science & Technology Laboratory at Porton Down, near Salisbury, to open the new Energetics Analysis Centre. While there, they met scientists who have been providing support in the country’s response to the coronavirus pandemic.
The Queen wore a pink coat and hat as she arrived by helicopter, while William travelled by car to meet his grandmother at the centre to carry out their first public engagement together since July 2017. And now, royal expert Katie Nicholl says the pair’s close bond is imperative for the future of the family.
