As the boundaries of life between work and home continue to blur, employers and employees are sitting up and are noticing the ways and means to offer and avail a worthwhile experience at the workplace.
An average working individual spends 60 percent of his lifespan working, and, this alone explains why most people consider the workplace as their 'second home'. As the boundaries of life between work and home continue to blur, employers and employees are sitting up and are noticing the ways and means to offer and avail a worthwhile experience at the workplace. The only way to do great work is to love what you do and the ambience at your workplace plays an integral role to influence your proximity and a penchant towards your work.
Understanding the relevance of diversity
As a concept, workplace diversity is fast gaining momentum in India. While gender diversity is at the forefront, it also refers to a variety of differences between people in an organization. Diversity can include race, gender, age, personality, education, background among others, and has become one of the important factors and major concerns for many employers.
Today, a large number of organizations are rebuilding and structuring their recruitment and other organizational policies to infuse diversity across levels. With more and more organizations recognizing the significance of diversity, it is becoming a widely accepted phenomenon, and its significance is only going to increase over the coming years.
With technology gaining momentum, diversity is gaining further prominence, and businesses recognizing it are making substantial capital and intellectual investments into diversity and inclusion programmes to enhance their talent management practices establishing a deeper connect between their principles and performance.
Diversity, however, does not produce better results automatically; it does so only if it is well managed. Managing diversity should therefore become an inseparable part of the work culture of the entire organization.

Nurturing A Coaching Culture
Jerry, who worked as a manager in several restaurants in the US was very popular among the waiters in his restaurant. So much so that whenever he moved to a new job, the waiters would follow him there because they loved him for his positive and motivational attitude. When asked as to how he remained positive at all times, he replied, "Each time something bad happens, I can choose to be a victim or I can choose to learn from it. I always choose to learn from it."

An Aggrieved Woman?
The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition And Redressal) Act, 2013 has mandated that it is illegal to sexually harass women, working or otherwise, at the workplace. However, it certainly is strange that the law did not feel the need to include men, and, also did not clearly demarcate the boundaries of liability for the employer.
