A business family for a background, a zeal to perform, a mother as a guardian angel and an enterprising brother by his side combined with his love for cinema and his far sightedness as an entrepreneur have made PVR Cinemas a name to be reckoned with. As its Joint Managing Director, Sanjeev Bijli plans to set up 1000 screens by 2020 even as he aspires to make it a one stop destination for all moviegoers.
Given where you are at the moment, is it difficult to remember where you started from?
I remember it crystal clear, as if it was just yesterday. At that moment, it was difficult to probably visualise that we would come this far. The Chanakya was the 600th screen opened last year. We have opened more properties since then. So now we have a presence of 612 screens across the country.
What made you decide to get into the business of cinema?
